Hyiodine

Hyiodine

Hyiodine is a viscous solution (gel) composed of hyaluronic acid, iodine and potassium iodide. Hyiodine creates an ideal moist environment in the wound and speeds up the healing process. It promotes granulation and epithelialisation of the wound and prevents maceration.

Hyaluronic acid is a natural part of the human body, an integral part of connective tissues including the extracellular matrix. It has unique regenerative properties and plays a key role in the tissue repair process.

The iodine complex preserves the hyaluronic acid from bacteria degradation and makes the product suitable for healing infected wounds. The concentration of iodine is designed to have no toxicological impact.

How Hyiodine works

hyiodine

Cellular Development

  • Creates a scaffold that surrounds and supports tissues
  • Supports cell viability and migration to new tissue sites
  • Allows peptides and proteins to interact with cells
  • Draws water and growth factors from surrounding dermis into the wound

Tissue Repair

  • Keeps the extracellular environment hydrated
  • Promotes granulation and epithelialisation
  • Helps prevent maceration
  • Contributes to reduced scarring

Infection Control

  • Provides antimicrobial protection

Wound types

Hyiodine promotes healing in all wound types, especially hard to heal wounds. Hyiodine is indicated for:

  • Fistulae and sinuses
  • Cavity wounds
  • Surgical dehiscence
  • Infected wounds
  • Diabetic foot ulcers
  • Leg ulcers
  • Pressure ulcers
